Privacy policy

This page explains what happens to the information of anyone who visits this site or writes to the firm. It follows Costa Rican Law 8968 on the Protection of Personal Data.

Who handles the data

Geovanny Montero Chacón, attorney and notary public, bar no. 6506 of the Costa Rican Bar Association, practising as Centro Jurídico Cristiano Montero (CJCM Abogados), with offices in Golfito, Puntarenas, across from Banco Nacional de Costa Rica, building 4252.

What this site collects

This site has no database and no form that sends information to a server of its own. The «Tell us about your case» form assembles a message from what you type and opens it in WhatsApp: sending happens inside WhatsApp, and nothing is stored on this page.

If you write on WhatsApp, call, or send an email, whatever you share stays in that channel and in the firm's own records.

What your browser stores

The site stores a single preference in your browser, the language you chose, under the key cjcm-lang. No advertising, tracking or analytics cookies are used. You can clear it from your browser settings, under site data.

Third-party services

• Typefaces load from Google Fonts, so Google receives the visitor's IP address when serving them.
• The contact buttons open WhatsApp, operated by Meta, which handles messages under its own terms.
• The location link opens Google Maps.
• The site is hosted by a hosting provider that may log access for technical and security reasons.

None of these services is controlled by the firm, and each is governed by its own policies.

What the information is used for

Only to answer the inquiry you raise and, if a professional relationship follows, to handle the matter entrusted. Data is never sold, rented or passed to third parties for commercial purposes.

Professional confidentiality

Anything shared in the course of a consultation or a case is covered by the duty of confidentiality that Costa Rican law imposes on attorneys and notaries public.

How long it is kept

Details of an inquiry that does not become a case are kept only as long as needed to answer it. Matters actually taken on are kept for the periods required by applicable law and by notarial regulations.

Your rights

You may request access to your data, its correction, its update or its deletion, and you may withdraw consent. To do so, write to the email or WhatsApp number below. You may also turn to the Agencia de Protección de Datos de los Habitantes (Prodhab), Costa Rica's data protection authority.

Minors

This site is not directed at minors and does not request information about them through the page.

Changes

Any change to this policy will be published at this same address, with its update date.
